Help answer the question about travel hotels deals
are there hotels near Tacoma, WA that offer deals if you're staying 15 nights or r ther other cheap places?I'm gonna be traveling to Washington this coming August and was planning on staying there 15 nights, but it looks like I would have to pay $1000 just to get a room. I was wondering if there were deals I could get at hotels or if there are other kind of places that you can rent for two weeks that won't charge as much. All I need is a room and a shower if possible.

I just got back from DC yesterday. We bought hotel tickets through priceline.com. Stayed at a four-star hotel for $88. It was approximately 15 minutes away.
As far as sightseeing, most of your monuments are within walking distance to the White House. Don't forget to check out the Vietnam Memorial between the Lincoln Memorial and the White House. Very sobering!
Have a blessed trip!

Check out the Marriott Courtyard on the Eisenhower expressway. It's on the south side of DC, walking distance (just across the bridge) from the Eisenhower Metro station (the third stop south of Reagan).
It's about $190 a night, which is a STEAL in DC. Pretty much everything else is $250 and up.
To the Smithsonian, White House, etc., you will have to take some form of transportation north, then northeast. I think the metro runs that way.

We just stayed at the Holiday Inn in Rosslyn (Arlington), VA. We paid 305$ total for three nights over President's Day weekend (used Travelocity.com). The hotel had free parking (which is rare), an indoor pool, and was one block from the Metro station. We didn't want to have to worry about a hotel shuttle for the Metro, because then you'd have to schedule around them — and the timing may not be convenient. The Rosslyn metro stop is the first one in VA and takes just ten minutes to get to the Smithsonian stop. (Springfield is much further out).
Our kids are 4 and 6, and they loved the dinosaurs at Natural History — be sure to check out the mineral room, too. The Air & Space museum was also a big hit. I've heard the zoo is great, but we didn't get there on this trip. The monuments / memorials are all wonderful.
Enjoy your trip.

I lived in DC for about 50 years until a few years ago. While I have a long history with the city, things do change. But from what I remember the place that you want to stay in or near is Georgetown. You can do that by staying in DC or on the Virginia side of the river maybe one or two metro stops away. Georgetown will likely have the bars and restaurants you are looking for. My next recommendation would be downtown, like maybe the Marriott at 14th St and Penn Ave. You could walk to restaurants and the museums from there. The Capitol area has some bars and restaurants but its mainly a day time area. As I recall Dupont Circle is where the gay community hangs out.

There's MARC and there's Metro, so you should be okay going in from Baltimore by rail. Take MARC to Union Station, and then take Metro to get more specifically where you need to go once you're in DC.

Yes, I think so. It's one of the more expensive cities in the US so hotel would normally be about $100 a night and rental cars can run $200 for a week. So I would say it sounds good. However, you won't need a car. The hotel may charge for parking and if you stay in downtown DC you really can't drive around anywhere. The traffic is outrageous, takes an hour to get ten miles. Walking around is really easy and the metro is really cheap and easy. Might as well use that money for your food instead. (There are plenty of ways to get from the airport to the hotel without a car)

Assuming you will be driving into the DC area, I would recommend HAWTHORNE SUITES in Alexandria off of Van Dorne Street that runs parallel to I-395 Shirley Highway 420 N. Van Dorn Street Alexandria, VA 22304 (703) 370-1000

bec the last time we had several friends visting, their rates were quite reasonable for DC, offered free buffet breakfast and shuttle bus etc.
In fact when we went to Orlando Disney last spring break, my wife and kids were very pleased with HAWTHORNE SUITES (which I believe is part of the HYATT HOTEL Chain) and the place was packed!
Hope the Above Info Helps!
