There are several hotels with such views (I actually spent a night in a room overlooking the Park right after my wedding!)
But they are usually very pricey! Even if the hotel is discounting rooms, those rooms would be more expensive.

Hotel wise, book early. We stayed in Chinatown (Hotel 91) but it's clean and fairly cheap- though you can heard the subway at night, it didn;t bother us. Becareful of big and cheap hotel, I heard it's not clean,, The last thing you want is to bring home some bed bugs.
Broadway Show: If Wicked was too expensive ( it was for us), so we went to see 'Fuerza Bruta", we got a coupon online and pay half price =) so check online! .. Let put it this way, we will never forget this show.. we had a blast!

The Marriott Marquis (Broadway/46th St) is wonderful and exquisite inside. They have bullet shaped, lighted elevators and it's right there in Times Square. I stayed there a couple years ago. Not sure now what they run (approx. $239.00 + up)? Try booking on Priceline or Hotels.com, you may be able to get the right price.

I found $604 per person flying out of JFK non stop on Jet Blue and staying at Mandalay Bay. Just go to this site and click on Expedia ad. That will get you a discount and be prepared to buy. Any other way and you won't get the discount. Make sure you click on Package.
