Past couple years I have gone to the q101 party at the Hyatt. They do one downtown and one in Rosemont. I've only been to the one downtown and its a lot of fun and HUGE!!!! There are seriously thousands of people there and open bar from beginning to end and food available. Seriously you would be amazed by how big it is. Upstairs they have a band playing and downstairs they have a dj in the convention area. I had about 20-25 friends go last year and it was great but so hard to keep track of everybody. Tickets were about $100 but for everything that you get its well worth it.

PS It's huge!

I have been to the Allerton. It's just fine, great location, but rooms are kinda small.

If you head over to http://www.resideo.com/us/illinois/chicago/ and click the "Check Availability" button and choose your dates, you can sort the results based on distance from Wrigley Field — that way you can see everything that's bookable at a glance.

You should buy that pass that gets you into all the museums – it is a good deal.

Also buy a multi-day CTA (public transportation) pass, it will give you unlimited rides during that time.

For food, you can check out restaurant.com. There are a LOT of restaurants listed on there. (If you are going to purchase a certificate off of here, look up coupon codes first. You can then possibly pay $5 or less for a $25 certificate).

During that particular weekend, there's going to be fireworks and a lot of fun activities around Navy Pier.

For the best view in Chicago, go to the Hancock (.. the Signature Lounge, not the Restaurant). This will be free (or you can get Sunday brunch there which isn't too expensive). The view is much nicer than at the Sears Tower.

There is lots of shopping along Michigan Avenue. Your girls will love WaterTower place.

The best deals are usually on the hotel's own website. I like to use Orbitz or Expedia to narrow the list down to a couple of hotels that look good and then go to the actual site to book.

It's pretty cheap to be in Chicago right now (winter) so I would just book and not have the hassle or worry of wondering how the last minute discount will work out.

i found a really good price for the hyatt which was amazing for only $89 instead of reg price of $200 on hotwire. The only downfall to Hotwire is that you will not find out the Hotel until after you purchase online. Their usually great hotels though.

They are currently offering as of today.. Jan.26th.. hotels for $1/night. So I would totally check that site out if I were you. ) Hope it helps you out.
