Help answer the question about travel hotels deals
A travel search engine that can list travels FROM somewhere only?I need to find a travel search engine, which should list places FROM somewhere & how much they will cost (including flight and/or hotel and/or car renatl).
I have tried expedia, yahoo and travelocity, BUT they require the destination specified to do their search.
I ask this because I'm planning to have a spring break get-away, and I really don't care where! ANYWHERE nice WITHIN my budget is fine. So I want it to list all the travel deals it finds across the country (or worldwide) and sort them based on the total package deal.

i just went in june and my mom and sister took me…we decided ALL hotels were really expensive…even the nasty ones! so what we did is we went to http://www.vrbo.com and we looked at apartments people rent out to tourists..and we rented one two blocks down from the empire state building and it was so much fun! it was a funky little apartment…and we stayed for four days and ended up paying way less than we would have for a hotel. i would go with renting an apartment…way cheaper. and it actually felt like you were in new york living…rather than visiting..it was so much fun! you get the feel for new york more if you stay in a rented apartment. check it out for real!

Hey there,
For hotels, you can defiantly use Priceline's "name your own price" option. I often use this and get 4 star hotels in Midtown Manhattan for $80 per night. The rooms are good for 2 adults. You may even be able to get three in there with a roll-away bed.
Flights you can also use Priceline, but I'd also look into Jet Blue. They have some great deals and their home base is in NYC's JFK airport.
Broadway shows are a lot cheaper if you get them ahead of time. Ticket prices have gone down with the economic slump.
You can find info on booking hotels with Priceline and other ways to save money at the following site. They explain exactly what it is you must do in order to book the rooms for cheap. You may want to check it out.

Like you see on tv. There are generally five rooms that share a bathroom. So, think of living with ten people (two to a room) and sharing a bathroom. Sometimes, though, they have stalls instead of just a single. So, be sure to call and ask questions.

not in NYC they are tall buildings if he wants to rent close by to central park they would be close to everything shows dinning etc if he wants to rent a hotel room with 3 floors he would have to go outside and then he will be a lot of traveling to the city

Well it depends what you consider reasonable. I stayed at the Holiday Inn on Lafayette and Canal st. (in chinatown right beside all the shopping that is there. It was about $120/night, clean, safe right near subway stops, shopping, food etc And that was the cheapest place I could find that was also affordable. If you find anything much cheaper (unless its a huge sale) you're probably going to be in a dirty peice of crap. Try hotels.com or expedia.com and see what they offer.

Try http://www.kayak.com. One tip….for New Years Eve all the hotels will be expensive however, the further from Times Square you are, the cheaper they'll be.
