Where to Find Bangkok Hotel Deals

The best places to find hotel deals in Bangkok is through Internet reservation websites. You’ll find many such as asiarooms.com, agoda.com, siamtravel.com and a host of many others. But what about booking directly through the hotels website?

Booking directly through hotels in Bangkok may not save you as much money as you would think. Hotels rely on Internet reservation websites to attract more guest through buying power and the ability to recommend budget to luxury hotels in Bangkok.

I’m pretty sure you’ve probably begun research on best discounted hotels in Bangkok and have found that many websites offer around the same rates. That’s because hotels allocate a certain amount of rooms to reservation websites at the same rate. And since they don’t want to over-compete and under-compete you’ll find more or less the same room rates across the board.

But there is one particular Internet hotel reservation website that stands above the rest. It is called Agoda.com and I’m quite sure you have already come across their website when you were looking for budget or 5 star luxury hotels in Thailand.

The reason why Agoda.com offers special discounted rates for hotels in Thailand is because they have an office right in the heart of Bangkok. So they are in a great location to receive deals on Thai hotels first hand.

The other reasons why it’s best to book hotels through Agoda is because they have a rewards points program. You get to earn 4% – 7% of the room rates in points which you can then use for future hotel discounts. No other hotel reservation website offers such benefits. Save enough points and you can easily get free nights.

And if you ever book a hotel through Agoda and find cheaper rates within 48 hours, Agoda will either beat the price or match it. It’s called the best rate guarantee and a major reason why people should be comfortable using Agoda.

If you ever have any questions or problems with your reservation, Agoda has a 24/7 customer service support.

Agoda.com is a very reliable hotel reservation website and I have absolutely no complaints about them. With so many perks and benefits for customers it should be a an easy decision to book your hotels in Bangkok through Agoda.com.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "best deal"?

    Cheapest decent hotel:
Guesthouses on Khao Sarn road ($10/night – 400 baht). You can actually find many decent hotels for $30/night – 1200 baht. A few times I stayed in a nice small-ish hotel (forgot the name) on Sukhumwit Soi 8 for 700 baht ($18.50) — for me, a hotel is just a place to sleep, and not to hang out, your needs may vary.

If you're in the "low budget" category, avoid Phuket. For a nice beach, go to Koh Samet (near Rayong — 5 hrs by bus from Bangkok) or Koh Phi Phi (spending a day in Phuket along the way). If you to take a peek at the seedy nightlife go to Pattaya. For hippie fun, Koh Phangan.

    Best value for money:
Luxury hotels/resorts are very cheap by global standards. I can't help you choose one, but I know there were deals in e.g. Bayoke Towers (super glitzy, 2nd largest building in Asia — great views) for about $80/night. Hotels of the same class can easily cost $400+/night in California.

For location, Novotel Bangkok is better than Somerset Lakepoint. It's located on Siam Square, surrounded by shopping places i.e. Siam Paragon and within short walking distance to MBK and Central World. However, there's a better and newer hotel for family trip, Pathumwan Princess, which's connected to MBK.

You can take BTS (sky train) to Chatuchak weekend market. Novotel Bangkok's close to BTS stop called Siam. Pathumwan Princess's not far from BTS stop called National Stadium.

    Enjoy your shopping :)

It seems you're looking for the Hotels in Bangkok just like me. I'm heading to get there as well soon. But now, I'm looking for ones which are closed to the BTS or MRT. I have been advised for the website to check which there are details about that.

    For multi centre, I have some lists;
    1. Novotel Siam, 4 star Hotel (Near to Siam Centre)
    2. Arnoma Hotel, 3 star Hotel (Near to Kasorn Plaza, Big C and World Trade Centre)

You can actually have a look through that website by yourself. http://www.excelloz.com You can check the hotels and rates.

    Hope it helps.

The majority of the hotels in Bangkok are reasonable. I usually stay at the J.W. Marriott on Sukhumvit Rd. and it is centrally located to shopping as well as the nightlife areas. It has a pool, a gym and a spa. It's a great hotel.

Once you get there, either get a limo from the airport or a taxi. Make sure that you take a metered taxi and ensure that they turn it on. You can discuss the fare prior to getting in and they will tell you an amount that will be close to the meter rate. As I said earlier, make sure that they turn it on. It's against the law for them not to use the meter. If you take an airport limo (sedan), it's a set fee, usually 500-1000 baht. All forms of transportation are pretty safe. Make sure that you save 500 baht for your airport departure tax.

As for the do's and don'ts, it's the same as any other big city. The biggest no-no is to say anything negative about the Royal Family, especially the King. It's a safe city and a very beautiful city. You'll have a wonderful time there.

As for clothing, on Sukhumvit Rd., there are street vendors everywhere and all prices are negotiable. Be aware that there are some deaf vendors there, so be patient with them. You can haggle prices with them as well.

Here are a few sites for you to check out. You'll love the city!

Any hotel that has a web site will charge you more. There are 100's if not 1000's of hotels without web sites in Bangkok/Thailand. If you feel safer booking a hotel before you come, book it for 2-3 days, that will give you time get settled and see the other hotels. Enjoy

Would you please translate your site into Thai as I’m not so comfy reading it in English? I’m getting corny of using Google Translate all the time, there is a little WP plugin named like global translator which will render all your articles automatically- this will make reading articleson your awesome blog even more comfortable. Cheers dude, Alva Aschmann!

  14. B Clayton Says:

Their customer service is appalling and their website defaults to different dates to the ones you want. If you want to change your reservation tough luck – that’s if their customer service bothers to reply in time.

My advice – pay a bit more for peace of mind somewhere else.
TripAdvisor is full of complaints against Agoda.

If had used Agoda on your advise I would be sueing you after the latest response from their CS.
